When I first moved to RI, I had no idea what kind of freshwater opportunites there'd be. I learned pretty quick there were virtually no Musky to chase, which is what got me through the Philly winters of recent years. I found that Connecticut had a pretty good trout stocking campaign, and they even stocked Atlantic Salmon into 2 rivers, the Naugatuck and the Shetucket, with some of these fish being Broodstock fish in the 25-33" range. Lucky for me, the Shetucket was only about 30 minutes away, and I began to explore it. The first Salmon I caught there in the first year was a 31" fish, I was totally shocked as I had fished the river a couple times before that and caught nothing except one small Rainbow and a few Fallfish. That winter I caught a total of maybe 8 more Salmon though none were remotely close in size to that fish.
