3/18/24 Getting Warmer

Updated: Mar 29, 2024

Warm temps the past week are starting to move things along nicely. Locally here in RI we are starting to see herring in some of the herring runs, though I have not seen any improvement in the holdover Striper action. I did go out for a few hours last week to my local holdover zone which does have a herring creek, and I saw a school of herring adjacent to the creek mouth, but got no bites in about 45 minutes of fishing. I moved to a different spot, no where near the herring run, and caught 10 Bass in about an hour and a half before dark, all of which were in the 14-20" range, one being slightly nicer around 24". All those fish hit the X-rap, and I had plenty of other nips and bites which didn't stick.
