Seeing hot Drum reports day after day left me no choice but to go try my luck on the Ocean Co Backbay Drum. These bites don't tend to last too long, often times they're short and sweet, as the tides may get funky (later and later) or smaller fish can move in and make keeping a clam on the hook impossible, or the fish just move. I knew there was a good chance I'd miss it, but with action leading up to the day I'd fish, I figured Id have to try, and if it sucked I would fall back on Stripers in the Delaware River or South Jersey. If that sucked, I could always fall back on Flatheads or American Shad. Plenty of options.
