5/17 Good Striper Fishing

Got out in a friends boat to fish Narragansett Bay. We fished the deeper water and adjacant flats mostly in the East side of the Bay. Had steady action with 28"-34" fish on Doc's and even caught one about 30lbs also on the Doc, mixed in with the smaller fish. This larger fish hit around 1pm, and I had just caught 2 smaller fish, not much rhyme or reason, just one bigger fish in the mix. Friend lost another that was that size or bigger. Our best action came from 20-50', even in the deeper water the fish hit the Doc's reliably. Tried using the Flutter Spoons which have also been producing well, but this day was so windy and boat drifting so fast, dropping the spoon down resulted in the line scoping out too much to effectively jig. Also caught one Bluefish in the 10lb+ range on a Doc up inside Greenwich Bay on our way in.
